The Conservatives held a Black and White Tie Ball earlier this month to raise funds for their election campaign, while Ukip are reported to have recently taken a princely sum from Richard Desmond. As for Al Murray, and his Freedom United Kingdom Party, the comedian has resorted to more humble methods to muster precious campaign funds.
The Pub Landlord, who is vying for the same seat as Nigel Farage, is selling FUKP stickers and badges online to raise party funds.

While Farage has claimed that Murray’s campaign to be MP for South Thanet is merely a publicity stunt, a spokesman for the comedian insists that all funds raised will go towards FUKP, and not to his personal bank account.
‘I can confirm that any profit from FUKP merchandise is being used specifically for the campaign,’ a spokesman says. However, with prices starting at £2 he’ll need to shift a lot of items to compete with Ukip’s efforts in the area.
Murray must also deal with the small task of getting 12 signatures from South Thanet residents to back his campaign.

Mr S is still waiting to hear if the number of signatures has reached double figures.
